THIS PAST WEEK:

About Game 5 vs. Gwinnett: Rookie Trevor Lewis buried his first professional playoff game-winning goal at 12:29 of the second overtime to lift the Cyclones to a exhilarating 3-2 win over the Gladiators in front of 2,246 at U.S. Bank Arena. With 92 minutes and 29 seconds played before the winner, it was the longest game in Cyclones club history.

About Game 4 vs. Gwinnett: The Gladiators evened the best-of-seven Eastern Conference Semifinals series at two games apiece by defeating the Cyclones by a 4-2 final score in front of 2,302 at U.S. Bank Arena. Former Cyclone Casey Pierro-Zabotel had his first three point of the series to lift his team to the win.

About Game 3 vs. Gwinnett: Goaltender Michael Houser earned his first professional playoff shutout by turning aside 23 shots as the Cyclones defeated the Gladiators by a 5-0 final score in front of 1,728 at U.S. Bank Arena.

SHOTS FROM THE POINT:

Closing In: After closing out the longest game in club history with a win this past weekend, the Cyclones are just one step away from the Eastern Conference Finals. They’ll host the Gwinnett Gladiators in Game 6 of their best-of-seven series tomorrow night at U.S. Bank Arena - featuring $2 Big Beers! Then, if necessary, on Wednesday night the teams would meet in a decisive Game 7 with $1 beers.

Climbing the List: Cyclones goaltender Michael Houser has continued to rack up the minutes during his first pro playoff run. His 736 minutes played and 321 saves are the most of any ECHL goaltender this postseason. On Tuesday he’ll start in his 12th consecutive game, giving him third place on the club’s all-time goaltending games-played list.

Difference Makers: After another masterful weekend, Cyclones rookies David Pacan and Trevor Lewis remain among the ECHL’s best this postseason. They’ve combined for 25 points in the 11 Cyclones Kelly Cup Playoff games, ranking in the league’s top five. Cincinnati is 6-2 when Pacan earns a point and 7-2 in games where Lewis notches one.

Shooting Gallery: While this series began quietly in the shots on goal category, the Cyclones have ramped up their pressure on Louis Domingue. The Cyclones have registered more than 40 shots in two straight games for just the second time in playoff history. They’ve notched 89 shots over the last two games. Their 48 offerings on Saturday was the third-most ever in a single playoff game.
