The Cyclones will be playing a total of 12 games (6 home, 6 away) in the final month of calendar year 2014.
Things kick off on Wednesday, December 3 as they welcome in the Utah Grizzlies for the first time since the ‘Clones returned to ECHL play in 2006. The Grizzlies finished third in the Western Conference a season ago, but ultimately fell to the Bakersfield Condors in a five-game opening playoff round. Depending on how the early weeks of the season play out, it could be a homecoming of sorts for a pair of former Cyclones. Both Mathieu Aubin and Mike Pelech, who were traded to the Grizzlies early last year, are back on Utah’s roster and will make a visit to Cincinnati for the first time since the move. Being a Wednesday night, that game will feature $1 beers for fans 21 and up, along with a salute to Robin Williams.
Just a couple days later, on Friday, December 5, the Fort Wayne Komets return to town for Kids T-Shirt night - where the first 1,500 fans ages 2-12 receive a FREE Cyclones T-Shirt. A fan favorite promotion returns the following night, Saturday, December 6, when we give away a limited-edition Cyclones Winter Hat to the first 2,000 fans in attendance courtesy of SportClips! That night, the Cyclones will battle the Kalamazoo Wings.
Cincinnati will embark on three-game road trip through the South Division beginning December 9, when they’ll face the South Carolina Stingrays, Greenville Road Warriors, and Gwinnett Gladiators over a five-day span. It’s the first of three such southern swings during the season.
After returning home, the Cyclones will welcome in the Road Warriors to U.S. Bank Arena on Tuesday, December 17 - a game that will feature $1 beers. Plus, fans are encouraged to dress as Santa, Mrs. Claus, or an elf!
The holiday theme will continue during the busy week at U.S. Bank Arena as the Elmira Jackals come to town for a two-game set. On Friday, December 19, we’ll offer up a Cyclones Ornament featuring Twister to the first 2,000 fans through the gates.
On Saturday, December 20, Cincy will host the city’s largest Ugly Sweater Party! The team will wear special “Ugly Sweater” style jerseys, which will get auctioned off after the game. In addition, Full and 24-game Season Ticket Holders will get a chance to take the ice after the game for a Postgame Skate with the team!
After taking time to celebrate Christmas, the team will hit the road to close out the month of December. On December 26 and 27, they’ll visit the Indy Fuel before wrapping up 2014 with a trip to Kalamazoo on New Years Eve.
