CYCLONES EARN BIG WIN IN FRONT OF RAUCOUS SCHOOL DAY CROWD

Huard Extends Point Streak while Quenneville gets First Pro Goal

CINCINNATI, OH- The Cincinnati Cyclones (8-2-1-1) picked up a 3-1 win over the Alaska Aces on Tuesday Morning. Forwards Christiaan Minella, Nick Huard, and Peter Quenneville netted the goals for the Cyclones. Huard also added an assist to extend his point streak to six games.

The Cyclones came out flying in the opening period, getting a number of quality scoring opportunities in the early minutes of the first. Cincinnati drew first blood with 41 seconds remaining in the frame when Huard sent a pass to Minella in the high slot, and he rifled it past Alaska netminder Troy Redmann, putting the Cyclones up, 1-0, through 20 minutes.

Cincinnati extended their lead to 2-0, 13:29 into the second while on the power play, when forward Jack Downing sent a pass through the crease to Huard, who slammed it home, extending the Cyclones’ lead to two goals.

That 2-0 lead held up throughout the remainder of the second, and in the third, the Cyclones struck again midway through the frame, when forward Joe Pendenza sent a pass to Quenneville who blasted a one-timer past Redmann, pushing the Cyclones to a 3-0 advantage, with his first pro hockey goal.

The Aces lit the lamp with 49 seconds left when defenseman William Wren beat Cyclones netminder Brad Thiessen, cutting Cincinnati’s lead to two goals.

The Aces pulled the goalie for the remainder of the third, however could not overcome the two-goal deficit, and the Cyclones held on for the 3-1 win. Thiessen was solid in net tonight, stopping 30 of the 31 shots he faced to earn the win. Cincinnati was outshot, 31-26 on the night, while the power play converted on 1-of-2 opportunities.

The Cyclones continue their four-game homestand on Friday night when the host the Indy Fuel. Faceoff is scheduled for 7:30pm.
