CYCLONES SEASON COMES TO A CLOSE FOLLOWING GAME SEVEN LOSS

Cincinnati Fights Valiantly Throughout, Cannot Overcome Early Deficit

Ft. Wayne, IN-The Cincinnati Cyclones fell to the Ft. Wayne Komets, 2-0, in Game 7 of the Western Conference Quarterfinals on Wednesday night, signaling the end of the Cyclones’ season.

The Komets jumped out to an early 2-0 lead, as forward Jamie Schaafsma found the back of the net twice in the opening period to give the Komets a two-goal advantage after 20 minutes.

The Cyclones kicked up the offense in the second, getting a number of quality scoring chances including a few odd-man rushes and breakaway opportunities. Despite the offensive spark, Cincinnati was not able to find the back of the net, and Ft. Wayne took their 2-0 lead into the third period.

In the third, the Cyclones continued to get the better of the scoring chances, outshooting the Komets, 12-6, in the period. Cincinnati continued to battle down the stretch, however they were not able to solve Komets goaltender Pat Nagle, and the Cyclones went on to fall, 2-0.

Cyclones goaltender Brad Thiessen stopped 33 of the 35 shots he faced, for his sixth 30-plus save performance of the post season.

The Cyclone now turn their attention to the 2016-2017 season, with the season-opener coming in mid-October. Stay tuned to www.cycloneshockey.com all offseason long to keep up-to-date on all of the latest Cincinnati Cyclones news.
