CYCLONES BRING IN ROOKIE TANDEM

Pair Comes to Queen City Following Successful Collegiate Careers

 

Cincinnati, OH- Cincinnati Cyclones Head Coach Matt Macdonald has announced that defenseman Craig Dalrymple (Dal-rem-pull) and forward Zach Schroeder (Sh-RAY-der) have signed Standard Player Contracts (SPC) for the 2016-2017 season. Dalrymple comes to Cincinnati following a four-year career at Ohio State University, while Schroeder heads to the Cyclones after four years at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI). Schroeder is also the brother of Minnesota Wild forward and former first-round draft pick Jordan Schroeder.

Dalrymple appeared in 118 games for the Buckeyes from 2012-2016, totaling nine goals and 34 assists for 43 points. The 6’5”, 210-pound rearguard was named team-captain during is senior season, and is a three-time Ohio State Scholar-Athlete, and a two-time Academic All-Big Ten choice. He was also voted 2013 Rookie of the Year by his teammates.

“Craig is coming out of Ohio State University where he developed in all areas of his game,” stated Macdonald. “He is a big defensemen at 6’5” and was able to contribute in both ends of the rink. He was also a leader and brings a high character level for a young professional.”

Prior to his time in Columbus, the Kippen, ONT, native spent two seasons with the Powell River Kings of the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL), skating in 113 games and accounting for 29 goals and 55 assists in that span.

Schroeder spent parts of five seasons with the Engineers, netting 16 goals and dishing out 39 assists in 151 career games.

“Zach is a player that brings a high level of compete with him,” said Macdonald. “He was used in many different rolls in University and is very versatile through out the line up."

Prior to his time at RPI, Schroeder attended Saint Thomas Academy in Minnesota, where he helped his team to Minnesota State Championships in 2008 and 2011. He was a team captain at Saint Thomas, earning All-State and All-Conference honors, and he was also named Team Most Valuable Player during his senior season.
