CYCLONES STREAK HALTED IN ATLANTA

Cincinnati Drops First of Eight-Game Road Trip

Duluth, GA-  The Cincinnati Cyclones (17-14-4-0) fell to the Atlanta Gladiators, 6-2, on Saturday night. Forwards Seth Ambroz and Peter LeBlanc tallied the lone goals for Cincinnati, who see their five-game winning streak come to an end.

Cincinnati wasted no time getting on the board in this one, as just 25 seconds into the opening frame forward Jaynen Rissling threw the puck towards the net that hit some traffic out in front, and Ambroz was able to slam it through to put the Cyclones ahead, 1-0.

The Gladiators were not deterred and tied the game with a little less than two minutes remaining in the opening period when forward Mark Naclerio scored on a rebound to pull Atlanta even with Cincinnati, 1-1, through 20 minutes.

The Gladiators turned up the offense out of the gate in the second, receiving three goals in 4:45 from Naclerio and defenseman Josh Atkinson and Jake Bolton to take a 4-1 lead early in the frame.

Cincinnati pulled to within a pair at the 12:42 mark of the period when LeBlanc took control of a loose puck in the high slot, and he rifled a shot off the crossbar and in past Atlanta netminder Matt Ginn to cut Cincinnati’s deficit to 4-2.

That 4-2 score held up throughout the remainder of the frame, and in the third Atlanta put the game out of reach for good when they received two more from forwards Justin Buzzeo and Brock Higgs to seal their 6-2 win.

Both teams registered 34 shots on the night, with Cyclones netminder Mark Visentin stopping 28 in the loss. Cincinnati continues their weekend road trip on Sunday afternoon in Greenville against the Swamp Rabbits. Face-off is scheduled for 3:00pm ET.
