CYCLONES SEE WINNING STREAK COME TO AN END
Cincinnati Falls in Fourth Game in Five Days
Toledo, OH- The Cincinnati Cyclones (23-22-4-0) fell the Toledo Walleye, 9-1, on Sunday afternoon. Forward Brandon McNally scored the lone goal for the Cyclones, who see their five-game winning streak come to an end.
The Walleye offense was on full display in this one, as Toledo took a 2-0 lead after the first on goals from Alden Hirschfeld and Tyson Spink.
Toledo continued their forward motion in the second, getting goals from forwards Evan Rankin and Tylor Spink, defenseman Chris Leone, and the second of the game from Tyson Spink, this time on the power play, to push their advantage to 6-0 after 40 minutes.
The Walleye tacked on three more in the third, as forwards Dane Walters, Shane Berschbach, and A.J. Jenks scored to lift Toledo to a 9-0 lead, 13:06 into the third.
Cincinnati broke up the shutout late in the frame when forward Shawn O’Donnell sent a pass to McNally who blasted a shot past Toledo goaltender Jake Paterson to cut the Cyclones’ deficit to 9-1. That was all the offense Cincinnati was able to muster as the Walleye held on for that 9-1 win.
Cincinnati was outshot, 35-16 on the night, with goaltenders Joel Rumpel and Michael Houser combining to stop 26 in the loss. The Cyclones return home on Wednesday night to take on the Quad City Mallards. Face-off is scheduled for 7:35pm ET.
