CYCLONES ADD PAIR AHEAD OF TRAINING CAMP

Veteran Forward, Rookie Defenseman Head to Cincinnati

Cincinnati, OH- The Cincinnati Cyclones, proud ECHL affiliate of the American Hockey League’s (AHL) Rochester Americans and the National Hockey League’s (NHL) Buffalo Sabres, have signed forward Jesse Schultz and defenseman Jordan Henderson to Standard Player Contracts (SPC) for the 2017-18 season.

A native of Strasbourg, SK, Schultz brings more than 100 games of ECHL experience and close to 400 games of AHL experience to the Cyclones. His time in North America has also been marked by over 160 Central Hockey League (CHL) games, and a pair of NHL games with the Vancouver Canucks in 2006-07. He appeared in five games this season for Slovakian side HC Nove Zamky where he tallied a goal in that time.

Most recently in North America, he appeared in 70 games for the Rapid City Rush in 2014-15, where he accounted for 77 points (34g, 43a) along with 65 minutes in penalties in that time. Overall, in 663 North American games, Schultz has accounted for 238 goals and 337 assists. He has also seen time overseas in Denmark, England, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Slovakia, and Sweden.

“Jesse is a premier player with lots of experience in many different leagues in his career,” remarked Cyclones Head Coach Matt Macdonald. “He is an older player who will bring a lot to our team both on and off the ice, and we are excited to see his contributions to our line up from the start.”

Henderson comes to the Queen City following a successful junior career in the Western Hockey League (WHL). He spent last season between the Medicine Hat Tigers, Saskatoon Blades, and Spokane Chiefs where he totaled six goals and 17 assists between the three clubs. In the two previous seasons in Spokane, the Surrey, BC, native accounted for a goal and eight assists in 97 games, along with 33 minutes in penalties.

“Jordan comes in as a young guy coming out of Juniors where he had success and comes highly recommended for his play,” commented Macdonald. “We are ready to see his transition to pro hockey.”
