CYCLONES HOLD OFF READING FOR FOURTH STRAIGHT WIN

Cincinnati Gets Points from Nine Different Players

Cincinnati, OH-The Cincinnati Cyclones (11-5-1-0) took down the Reading Royals, 4-3, on Wednesday night. Forwards Brandon McNally, Rob De Fulviis, Shawn O’Donnell, and Justin Danforth netted the goals for Cincinnati, who have now won four games in a row.

After the Royals took a 1-0 lead 7:17 into the first on a goal from forward Chase McCarthy, Cincinnati evened things up while shorthanded. At the 10:53 mark of the frame, McNally stole the puck in the neutral zone and skated in on goal while being draped by a defender, and lifted a backhander in past Reading netminder Mark Dekanich to tie the game, 1-1.

That 1-1 score held up throughout the remainder of the first, and in the second the Cyclones offense came alive. Just 2:26 into the frame, Danforth sent a pass to De Fulviis on a 2-on-1 rush and he sniped a shot through the legs of Dekanich to put Cincinnati ahead, 2-1.

That lead became 3-1 near the midway point of the period when defenseman Blake Thompson sent a pass from the defensive zone to O’Donnell who was all alone at the center red line, and he skated in on goal and scored for the ninth time this season.

The Royals pulled back to within a goal at the 12:39 mark when McCarthy netted his second of the game to cut Cincinnati’s lead to 3-2.

The Cyclones were not deterred and extended their lead back to two when Danforth came streaking down the right side, turned the corner, and lit the lamp to give Cincinnati a 4-2 lead through two periods.

In the third, the Royals tacked on one more when defenseman Nick Luukko found the back of the net, however the Cyclones’ defense did not give another inch and they held on for the 4-3 win. The Royals outshot Cincinnati, 30-24 on the night, with Cyclones netminder Jonas Johansson stopping 27 in the win.

Cincinnati heads on the road to Brampton to take on the Beast on Friday, in the first of two games on the weekend. Face-off is slated for 7:15pm ET.
