Cincinnati Native Earns Second All-Star Assignment

Cincinnati, OH- The Cincinnati Cyclones, proud ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League’s (NHL) Buffalo Sabres and American Hockey League’s (AHL) Rochester Americans, and in conjunction with the ECHL, have announced that Cincinnati Cyclones equipment manager Chris Burke has been selected as the equipment manager for the upcoming 2018 CCM/ECHL All-Star Classic. The game is scheduled to take place next Monday, January 15, at the Indiana Farmers Coliseum in Indianapolis, IN; home of the ECHL’s Indy Fuel.

“It’s an honor to represent Cincinnati in the upcoming All-Star Classic,” remarked Burke. “I remember how special my first all-star game was, and I’m excited to have the opportunity to do it again and represent this great organization."

A native of Cincinnati, Burke is in his twelfth season as Cyclones equipment manager, joining the team in 2006. During his tenure in Cincinnati, Burke has managed close to 1,000 games and has been a part of a pair of Kelly Cup Championships in 2008 and 2010, and went to a third Kelly Cup Final in 2014.

“It’s great to see Chris get named to the all-star game,” said Cyclones Head Coach Matt Macdonald. “He has put in many years of hard work and is extremely respected amongst his peers. He is one of the best in the ECHL and we are happy to have him represent Cincinnati in the All-Star Classic.”

Burke began his career with the Cyclones, working for the team for four seasons from 2000-2004, including one as head equipment manager. Burke spent the 2004-05 season with the ECHL’s Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies and the 2005-06 season with the Fresno Falcons. His tenure in Fresno saw Burke earn his first ECHL All-Star selection, and he was named ECHL Equipment Manager of the Year, as well.
