CYCLONES UPENDED IN HOME RETURN

Cincinnati Drops First of Three-in-Three

 

Cincinnati, OH- The Cincinnati Cyclones (21-14-1-0) dropped a 6-2 decision to the Ft. Wayne Komets on Friday night. Forwards Rob De Fulviis and Justin Vaive scored the goals for Cincinnati.

After the Komets took a 1-0 lead 2:27 into the opening frame on a goal from forward Gabriel Desjardins, Cincinnati tied the game late in the frame, when De Fulviis came down the right side and took the puck around the net, and he spun a shot off-balance that beat Komets goaltender Michael Houser to tie the game, 1-1, after 20 minutes.

In the second, Cincinnati found some early power play magic, when a shot from forward Jesse Schultz was kicked out by Houser, but Vaive was in front and slammed in the rebound to give the Cyclones a 2-1 lead, 1:59 into the second.

The Komets responded with a power play tally of their own 1:43 later from forward Marc-Oliver Roy to tie the game, 2-2, and took a 3-2 lead at the 14:41 mark when forward Shawn Szydlowski lit the lamp for the 20th time this season.

Ft. Wayne took the 3-2 lead into and in the third put the game out of reach, getting goals from defenseman Ryan Culkin and Cody Sol, and the second of the game for Desjardins to propel themselves to a 6-2 win.

The Komets outshot Cincinnati, 39-31, with netminder Jonas Johansson stopping 33 in the loss. Cincinnati hits the road on Saturday night when they take on the Indy Fuel Face-off is slated for 7:35pm ET.
