Cincinnati Earns Fifth Win in a Row

Kalamazoo, MI- The Cincinnati Cyclones (33-21-2-0) pushed their winning streak to five games with a 3-1 win over the Kalamazoo Wings on Sunday afternoon. Forwards Shawn O’Donnell and Brandon McNally, along with defenseman Chris Leone netted the goals for the Cyclones, who extend their lead over the Wings to seven points.

Cincinnati netted the first goal of the game while on the power play, when forward Jesse Schultz sent a pass to O’Donnell in the left circle and he snapped a shot in past Wings netminder Joel Martin to give the Cyclones a 1-0 lead.

That 1-0 lead held up throughout the remainder of the first, and in the second Kalamazoo tied the game, 1-1, 10:08 into the period when Justin Taylor lit the lamp for the 27th time this season.

The Cyclones were not deterred and regained the lead late in the frame when McNally tossed a pass to Leone and he tipped it in to put Cincinnati back ahead, 2-1, through 40 minutes.

Cincinnati put it away with their second power play tally of the night with 49 seconds left in the third, when McNally finished off a 2-on-1 rush with forward Dominic Zombo to seal the Cyclones 3-1 win.

The Cyclones were outshot, 37-29 on the evening, with goaltender Jonas Johansson stopping 36 in the win. Cincinnati next takes the ice on Friday against the Indy Fuel in Indianapolis. Face-off is slated for 7:35pm ET.
