Long-Time AHL’er Lands in Cincinnati

 

Cincinnati, OH- Cincinnati Cyclones Head Coach Matt Macdonald has announced that forward Kenny Ryan has signed a Standard Player Contract (SPC) for the 2016-2017 season.

“Kenny is a player that brings experience to our line up. He works hard in all three zones, adds speed, and skill to our group and will play an important role on our team this season,” said Macdonald. “He is a good character person that will lead both on and off the ice, and he is coming in excited to play for this organization. We believe he can make a difference every night for this team.”

Drafted in the second round by the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2009, Ryan has spent the majority of his five-year pro career in the American Hockey League (AHL), appearing in 239 games and totaling 33 goals and 44 assists. Ryan spent the bulk of last season with the San Diego Gulls, accounting for 10 points (6g, 4a) in 41 games.

He saw his best year in terms of offensive production in 2014-15 with the Lake Erie Monsters, accounting for 12 goals and 17 assists in 73 games played. He also spent parts of his first three pro seasons with the Toronto Marlies where he amassed 15 goals and 23 assists in 125 games.

In addition, the 6’0”, 209-pounder has 34 games of ECHL action between the Reading Royals and Utah Grizzlies, accounting for 15 goals and 11 assists for 26 total points.

Prior to turning pro in 2011, Ryan spent two seasons with the Windsor Spitfires of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), where he helped the Spitfires to an OHL championship and a Memorial Cup championship in 2010. In 115 career OHL games, Ryan scored 36 goals and added 59 assists for a total of 95 points.
