Cincinnati Also Assigned Salituro, Releases Boudreau

 

Cincinnati, OH- The Cleveland Monsters, American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate of the Columbus Blue Jackets, have assigned goaltender Brad Thiessen and forward Dante Salituro to the Cincinnati Cyclones.

A native of Aldergrove, BC, Thiessen has appeared in two games with Cleveland this season, posting an 0-2-0 record along with a 3.10 goals-against average and .900 save percentage.

He was one of the top goaltenders for the Cyclones last season, skating in 19 games and posting a 10-4-2-2 record along with a 1.89 GAA and a .934 SV%, while recording one shutout. Thiessen also appeared in 22 games with the Monsters a season ago, posting a 12-4-4 record to go along with a 1.95 GAA and a .929 SV%. He was amongst the League’s goaltending leaders in February, earning AHL Goaltender of the Month honors with a record of 6-1-2, along with a 1.75 GAA and .937 SV%.

Thiessen spent the 2014-15 campaign with the AHL’s Adirondack Flames where he posted a 10-16-7 record along with a 3.11 goals-against average and a .902 save percentage. He has spent the bulk of his career in the AHL, suiting up for the Monsters, Flames, Norfolk Admirals and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. In 225 career AHL games, Thiessen has a record of 118-77-11-23 along with a 2.49 GAA and a .910 SV%.

In 2011-12, Thiessen appeared in five games for Pittsburgh, posting a 3-1-0 record with a 2.45 GAA and a .858 SV% in those contests.

Prior to turning pro in 2009, the 30-year-old spent three seasons at Northeastern University from 2006-2009. In 111 collegiate games, Thiessen recorded a 52-46-11 record along with a 2.40 GAA and a .930 SV%.

Salituro has appeared in five games for the Monsters this season, accounting for a goal and two penalty minutes. The rookie forward completed a four-year junior hockey career with the Ottawa 67’s of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) following the 2015-16 season, accounting for 260 points (111g, 145a) in 265 games played. He also racked up 225 minutes in penalties.

The Willowdale, ON, native signed an entry-level deal with the Columbus Blue Jackets of the National Hockey League (NHL) back in July.

In a separate transaction, the Cyclones have released forward Gabryel Boudreau. The 21-year-old departs the Queen City with a pair of goals and an assist along with 15 penalty minutes in 12 games played.
