CYCLONES UPENDED AT HOME

Toledo Takes First Game of a Three-Game Series

Cincinnati, OH-  The Cincinnati Cyclones (7-4-1-0) fell to the Toledo Walleye, 6-2, on Friday night. Forwards Dominic Zombo and Alex Kile scored the goals for Cincinnati.

After the Walleye took a 1-0 lead on a shorthanded marker from forward Mike Borkowski, Cincinnati tied the game late in the period when Zombo stole the puck in the right corner, skated to the net and wristed a shot in, tying the game, 1-1, after 20 minutes.

The Walleye wasted little time regaining the lead in the second, as just 2:53 in, forward Kyle Bonis found the back of the net for the fourth time this season.

Cincinnati was not deterred and evened the game back up, 2-2, a couple of minutes later, as Kile came streaking down the left side into the offensive zone, turned the corner on a defender in the circle, and tucked a shot past Toledo netminder Pat Nagle.

Toledo’s special teams continued to produce and gave the Walleye the lead back midway through the frame, when Borkowski lit the lamp for the second time in game, this time on the power play.

Toledo took their 3-2 lead into the locker room after 40 minutes, and in the third Toledo’s power play continued to dominate, getting a pair of power play goals from AJ Jenks and one from Zach Nastasiuk to send the Walleye to a 6-2 win. Toledo outshot the Cyclones, 27-15 on the night, with goaltender Jason Kasdorf stopping 21 in the loss. The two sides continue their three-game series on Saturday night in Toledo. Face-off is scheduled for 7:15pm ET.
