TONIGHT'S MATCHUP:
Tonight, the ‘Clones will open up their home slate when they welcome in the Wheeling Nailers to U.S. Bank Arena for the first of 11 regular season meetings. The two teams squared off in a pair of games during an abbreviated preseason schedule....with both teams earning big wins on their home ice. Wheeling took the first game by a 4-1 score while Cincinnati won 5-1 the following night at Northland Ice Center. In 2009-10, the Cyclones posted a 7-4-1 record against the Nailers - 4 of those 7 wins coming at. U.S. Bank Arena.
SCOUTING THE NAILERS:
Wheeling has come shooting out of the gate, leading the North Division with a 5-2-0 record. They’ve gotten great performances from both the offense and defense early on. Wheeling’s 21 goals-scored are tied for second most in the ECHL while goaltender Patrick Killeen has posted a 1.71 GAA - earning him Goalie of the Week accolades last week on October 19th.
SECOND PERIOD WOES:
This season the ‘Clones have been outscored 9-2 in the middle frame this season. In all other periods, Cincinnati has outscored its opponent 13-12.
