Forward Matt Butcher Coming to Cincinnati

CINCINNATI, Ohio – The 2010 Kelly Cup Champion Cincinnati Cyclones, proud affiliate of the NHL’s Florida Panthers and Nashville Predators, announced today that forward Matt Butcher has been added to the Training Camp roster.

Butcher, a 2005 fifth-round Vancouver Canucks draft pick, hopes to play his first professional season with the Cyclones after finishing a four-year career at Northern Michigan University.  While with the Wildcats, the six-foot-two forward accumulated 44 points (15 goals, 29 assists) in 125 career games.  He was among three other Cyclones (Ryan Del Monte, Matt Pierce, and Brian O’Hanley) to have participated in Rochester’s AHL camp last week.

Like several other Cyclones players, Butcher has a hockey-bloodline.  His father, Garth, was also a Vancouver Canucks draft choice (1981) and played nearly 900 games in the NHL with four different teams.

The defending Kelly Cup Champion Cyclones open their home schedule on Saturday, October 30 at U.S. Bank Arena against the Wheeling Nailers.  Discounted ticket packages and single game tickets for the 2010-2011 season are available now.  For more information, call 513.421.PUCK (7825) or visit CyclonesHockey.com.
