Brian O'Hanley Named to 2011 ECHL All-Star Classic

CINCINNATI, Ohio – The 2010 Kelly Cup Champion Cincinnati Cyclones, proud affiliate of the NHL’s Florida Panthers and Nashville Predators, announced today that defenseman Brian O’Hanley has been named to the 2011 ECHL All-Star Classic presented by CCM to be played on January 26, 2011 in Bakersfield, California.

O’Hanley, a ninth-round San Jose draft pick in 2003, will be making his first-career trip to the All-Star Game.  This season with the Cyclones, he ranks third on the team and fourth among ECHL defensemen in scoring with 17 points (4 goals, 13 assists).  His assist totals are also good for third best in the league.  In 143 career-games with Cincinnati, the Quincy, Massachusetts native has collected 53 points (11 goals, 42 assists).  Prior to going pro, he played collegiately at Boston College, which advanced to the National Championship in both 2006 and 2007.

O’Hanley becomes the seventh Cyclones player since the 2006-07 season to be named an ECHL All Star.  Additionally, Athletic Trainer Bob Case was also selected to represent the Cyclones last season.  Here are the last four years of Cyclones All-Star Classic participants:

2010:  Jeremy Smith, Matt Pierce, Athletic Trainer Bob Case
2009:  Olivier Latendresse, Barret Ehgoetz (Latendresse was recalled and didn’t play in the game)
2008:  David Desharnais
2007:  Cedrick Desjardins

The Cyclones will be back on the ice this Saturday night, as they ring in 2011 against the Toledo Walleye with a 7:00pm opening face-off from the Huntington Center.  Hear all the action on CyclonesHockey.com starting at 6:45pm.
