THIS PAST WEEK:

About Saturday vs. Wheeling: The Nailers exploded for a five-goal third period en route to a 7-2 victory over the Cyclones in front of 2,949 at U.S. Bank Arena on Saturday night.  With the victory, the Nailers re-claimed first place in the North Division standings.  Kevin Roeder had his first multi-point game of the season, collecting a shorthanded goal and an assist in a losing effort.  Team captain Barret Ehgoetz also scored for Cincinnati, giving him a point in three straight games.

About Friday vs. Wheeling: Ryan Del Monte and Matt Pierce each scored their first goals since coming back from Rochester, leading the Cyclones to a 2-1 win over the Nailers in front of 2,367 at U.S. Bank Arena on Friday night.  Marc Cheverie turned aside 21 shots to earn his tenth win of the season, which ranks him fourth among all ECHL goaltenders.

About Wednesday Night vs. Reading: Matt Caruana netted the game-winning goal in the shootout to give the Royals a 2-1 victory over the Cyclones in front of 2,356 at U.S. Bank Arena.  All three meetings with the Royals this season have been decided in the extra session.  It was the third time this year that Cincinnati was involved in a shootout and an ECHL-high tenth overtime game.

STORYLINES:

CRUISING WITH CHRISTIAAN:
Cyclones rookie Christiaan Minella has become a force for Cincinnati of late.  The former Notre Dame Fighting Irish player has registered points in three of his last five games and 7 of his last 12 - including back-to-back multi point games a couple weeks ago.  He is one of three Cyclones rookies to have a multi-point game (Sam D’Agostino and Chris Clackson are the others).

A SOPHOMORE SURGE: Cyclones second-year defenseman Kevin Roeder has already surpassed his rookie scoring totals just 28 games into the year.  In 2009-10, the Glenview, Illinois native collected five points (1 goal, 4 assists) in 30 games.  This year, he has already tied that mark - posting 2 goals and 3 assists.  Additionally, he has earned his first career multi-point game and first shorthanded goal.

ANOTHER ‘CLONE REACHES “THE SHOW”: Former Cyclones goaltender Mark Dekanich becomes the fourth Cincinnati player in franchise history to make his NHL debut.  Last Saturday, Dekanich stopped 22 of 25 shots for Nashville in a 6-1 loss to Los Angeles.

STAYING POSITIVE: Barret Ehgoetz has earned a +1 or better in 15 games this season and has registered a point in 3 straight games (1G, 2A).

ANOTHER RUNG UP THE LADDER: With his assist last Friday night, Scott Reynolds has passed former Cyclone David Desharnais with 78 career assists…good for 4th most in franchise history.

THE MINUTE-MAN: Marc Cheverie’s 1213 minutes played are the second most among all ECHL goaltenders this season while is 562 saves rank him third.
