Milwaukee Assigns Forwards Ben Ryan and Rob Slaney

CINCINNATI, Ohio – The Cincinnati Cyclones, proud affiliate of the NHL’s Florida Panthers and Nashville Predators, announced today that forwards Ben Ryan and Rob Slaney have been assigned by the Milwaukee Admirals of the American Hockey League.

Ryan, a Nashville Predators fourth-round draft choice in 2007, is kicking off his first full season as a professional after a four-year collegiate career at Notre Dame. After finishing school last season, he skated in two regular season games and six postseason games with the Milwaukee Admirals, earning an assist with two penalty minutes. With the Irish, the 23-year old amassed 97 points (35 goals, 62 assists) in 159 career games and helped his team capture the CCHA title in 2008-09. He was among Notre Dame’s top-six scorers in each of his four seasons, and finished tied for fifth in points in each of his final two seasons. Prior to his playing days in South Bend, the five-foot-eleven, 192-pound center spent two seasons in the USHL with Des Moines.

Slaney, a third-year player, comes to Cincinnati after spending most of his professional career with the Reading Royals. In 83 ECHL games, the 23-year-old Upper Island Cove, Newfoundland native has accumulated 35 points (8 goals, 27 assists). He made his professional debut with the Toronto Marlies (AHL) in 2009-10 where he collected six assists in 34 games. Before joining the pro ranks, Slaney was a four-year player in the QMJHL with the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles. In 2008-09 with the Eagles, he led the team in goals (36) and points (81). That same year, he was a member of the Gold Medal winning team Canada at the World Junior Ball Hockey Championships.

Slaney will reunite with his former team this Saturday night as he, Ryan, and the rest of the Cyclones visit the Reading Royals at 7:05pm. Fans can hear all the action of the game on the Cyclones Radio Network (1050-AM) beginning at 6:50pm.
