CINCINNATI, Ohio – The Cincinnati Cyclones, proud affiliate of the NHL’s Florida Panthers and Nashville Predators, announced today that forwards Jonathan Hazen and A.J. Jenks along with goaltender Tyler Plante have been assigned today by the San Antonio Rampage of the American Hockey League.
Hazen, a 21-year-old rookie, spent the last four seasons in the QMJHL with the Val d’Or Foreurs where he posted 227 points (106 goals, 121 assists) in 242 career amateur games. A year ago, he captained the Foreurs and enjoyed a banner year in points (83), goals (41), and assists (42). In each of his final three seasons of junior hockey, Hazen finished in the top-four in team scoring (and led the team in 2010-11). In seven games with San Antonio this season, the Val-Belair, Quebec native has tallied one goal.
Jenks, a fourth-round selection (100th overall) by Florida in 2008, is now in his second season as a professional. A year ago with Rochester (AHL), the Wolverine Lake, Michigan native finished tenth on the team with 20 points (8 goals, 12 assists) in 63 games. Prior to going pro, the six-foot-two, 200-pound left-winger spent four years with the Plymouth Whalers (OHL) – amassing 193 points (79 goals, 114 assists) during that stretch. In 2009-10, Jenks was an OHL All-Star in addition to a U-20 Gold Medal Winner at the World Junior Championships.
Plante was Florida’s second round selection (32nd overall) in the 2005 NHL Draft and has spent most of his professional career in the American Hockey League. In 108 Triple-A games, the Milwaukee, Wisconsin native has earned a 3.13 goals-against average. Cincinnati will be Plante’s third-career ECHL stop; he skated with the Florida Everblades in 2007-08 and the now-defunct Dayton Bombers in 2008-09. Before getting drafted, Plante was a standout goalie in the Western Hockey League (WHL). He spent four seasons with the Brandon Wheat Kings, earning WHL Rookie of the Year Accolades in 2004-05 in addition to being named to the WHL All-Rookie Team.
All three players are expected to be in the lineup tomorrow night when Cincinnati concludes its five-game, season opening road trip against the Chicago Express at 8:30pm ET. Pregame coverage from the Sears Center gets underway on the Cyclones Radio Network (1050-AM, America One) at 8:15pm ET.
