Cyclones Extend Winning Streak to Five, Hooking Walleye 3-0

TOLEDO, Ohio – Chris Cahill’s second period goal proved to be the game-winner as goaltender Brian Foster earned a 28-save shutout, lifting the Cincinnati Cyclones (13-9-0-3) to a 3-0 victory over the Toledo Walleye (13-14-0-1) in front of 8,200 at Huntington Center on Friday night. It was Foster’s second blanking of the year and extended Cincinnati’s season-long winning streak to five games.

After a scoreless first period, the Cyclones jumped ahead 1-0 in the middle frame when Chris Cahill wristed a shot that took a wild bounce and landed behind Toledo goaltender Thomas McCollum (L, 29 saves, 5-6-0-1) at the 1:17 mark. Then after continuous second period pressure by the Cyclones, Mike Pelech slammed in a rebound for his third goal of the season at the 15:18 mark to give Cincinnati a 2-0 cushion after 40 minutes of play.

Early in the third stanza, the teams kept trading scoring chances but it remained 2-0 Cyclones as Cincinnati goaltender Brian Foster (W, 28 saves, 7-1-0) continued to hold Toledo off the scoreboard. Mathieu Aubin later buried his team-leading 14th goal of the season at 17:14 to cap off the scoring at 3-0 and Foster backstopped his way to a 28-save shout, his second of the season.
