Last Wednesday, the Cyclones mounted a record-breaking comeback by rallying from a 6-1 deficit to win in overtime by a 7-6 final score. On the season, Cincinnati is now 5-2 against their I-75 rivals and 24-22-1-1 since 2006. All but two of their meetings this year have been decided by two goals or less.

SCOUTING THE WALLEYE: Nick Vitucci’s club is still dwelling in the basement of the North Division standings, trailing Cincinnati by six points with four additional games played. Team captain Kyle Rogers leads Toledo in scoring, notching 30 points (15 goals, 15 assists) in 45 games. Defenseman Bryan Rufenach continues to be a bright spot for the Walleye as well, ranking tied for seventh among league rear guards with 24 points (11 goals, 13 assists) in 38 games. His goal totals (11) and shot totals (114) are both second among all ECHL defensemen. Despite owning the Eastern Conference’s second-worst offense (123 goals scored), Toledo is most effective during the opening period. They have outscored opponents 40-36 in the first while getting outscored by an average of 57-47 in the final two frames. The “Fish” also have a new face between the pipes, as Alec Richards was assigned from AHL Rockford earlier this week. This season at the Triple-A level, he has earned 7-11-2 record with a 3.55 goals-against average.
About Saturday Night vs. South Carolina: Mathieu Aubin’s third period goal proved to be the game winner as the Cyclones picked up a 3-2 win over the Stingrays in front of 5,952 at U.S. Bank Arena. The victory sealed a perfect 3-0 week for Cincinnati and pulled them within three-points of second place in the North Division standings.
Cookin’ at Home: Cincinnati remains one of the top teams in the ECHL on home ice. They have strung together four straight wins at U.S. Bank Arena, which is the second-longest active streak in the league.
Bonus Hockey: This year, the Cyclones have 11 games decided in overtime or a shootout - which is tied for third-most among any ECHL team. While they only have a 5-6 record collectively in the extra session, the Clones are a perfect 4-0 in overtime (which is the most of any team in the league). They are 1-6 in shootouts.
