THIS PAST WEEK:

About Last Night in Kalamazoo: A crazy bounce in the third period gave Aaron Clarke the game-winning goal and the Wings a 3-2 triumph over the Cyclones in front of 3,755 at Wings Stadium. Josh Shalla and Garrett Wilson each scored goals for Cincinnati.

About Saturday in Evansville: Newcomer Andrew Conboy’s first goal as a Cyclone proved to be the game-winner as the Cyclones erased a 3-1 deficit to rally for a 4-3 win over the IceMen in front of 5,798 at Ford Center. It was the seventh come-from-behind victory for Cincinnati in 2012-13 and gave the Cyclones a four-point cushion in the North Division Standings.

About Friday Night in Toledo: Forwards Dan Eves and David Pacan each earned multi-point games as the Cyclones defeated the Walleye by a 5-3 final score in front of 7,453 at Huntington Center. Goalie Brian Foster’s win was his 13th on the season and 40th as a Cyclone – tying former Cyclone Cedrick Desjardins for the club’s all-time career wins lead.

About Thursday Night vs. Elmira: Second-year forward Dustin Gazely potted a pair of goals and added an assist as the Jackals hung on to win by a 4-3 final score over the Cyclones in front of 4,906 at U.S. Bank Arena. The loss snapped Cincinnati’s three-game winning streak.

SHOTS FROM THE POINT:

Happy New Year: Having enjoyed their best start since the 2007-08 season, the Cyclones will ring in 2013 this weekend with a home-and-home series against the Fort Wayne Komets. The Clones earned a road win at Memorial Coliseum on December 19 and look to make it two in a row on the road against their former IHL rivals on Friday. Then, on Saturday, the teams will meet at U.S. Bank Arena for Throwback Night / Teddy Bear Toss! Fans can get tickets for just $8, plus enjoy $1 Hot Dogs, Pizza, Soda, and Beer. Fans are also encouraged to bring a new or gently-used teddy bear to the game that they will throw on the ice after the Cyclones first goal!

Rookie on the Rise: Cyclones forward Josh Birkholz has been on a tear of late. He has registered a point in three-straight games, including his second-career shorthanded goal last Saturday at Evansville. They Cyclones are 7-3 this season when he finds the scoresheet.

The Race to 20 Wins: Upon their next “W,” the Cyclones will have their 20th victory of the season. As long as they pick it up by February 3, this year will be the fastest they’ve reached the 20-win plateau since the 2009-10 Cyclones earned it on January 2 and the third fastest in club history.
