Hetenyi's 28 Saves Backstop Cyclones to 4-0 Win over Orlando

CINCINNATI, Ohio – The Cincinnati Cyclones (21-12-2-0) controlled the action from the outset and picked up a 4-0 win over the Orlando Solar Bears (15-18-2-2) in front of 3,086 at U.S. Bank Arena on Wednesday night. Forward Mathieu Aubin scored two goals and goaltender Zoltan Hetenyi (ZOLE-tan, Huh-TEN-yee) earned his second shutout of the year in the victory.

After dominating much of the play early in the contest, the Cyclones finally found the back of the net with Aubin’s first score of the night at 16:49 of the opening frame. The Cincinnati captain slipped the puck behind Orlando goaltender John Curry (L, 30 saves, 13-9-2-0) after catching the rebound from a Taylor Ellington snapshot. The goal was Aubin’s 101st in a Cyclones jersey, placing him ahead of Barret Ehgoetz for second on the club’s career goal list. The score would remain 1-0 for the remaining few minutes of the first period.

Aubin would again be in the right place at the right time just 7:10 into the middle stanza as he tapped in a rebound from a John McFarland’s breakaway shot to extend the Cincinnati lead to 2-0. The Cyclones would score their third goal of the evening with just 3:30 before the second intermission when David Pacan flipped a shot over the left shoulder of Curry during a power play. The Cyclones would take the 3-0 advantage into the locker room after 40 minutes.

In the final period, the teams skated without lighting the lamp until Cyclones newcomer Tommy Lange tipped home Mike Embach’s shot from between the circles to cap off the scoring at 4-0. And after a couple more late saves from Zoltan Hetenyi (W, 28 saves, 4-4-0), Cincinnati’s rookie net minder sealed his second career shutout.
