CINCINNATI'S LARGEST FISH FRY
TONIGHT'S MATCHUP: Tonight the 2013 North Division Champion Cincinnati Cyclones open a four-game swing through the South Division as they visit the Gwinnett Gladiators for the final time this season. Jarrod Skalde’s team rallied to defeat the Glads back in February, running their all-time record against their Georgia foes to 6-6-0.
SCOUTING THE GLADIATORS: Like the Cyclones, John Wroblewski’s club has clinched a 2013 Kelly Cup Playoff spot by compiling a 40-25-2-1 record - including four straight wins. However, they’re still in a dog fight for the South Division title with Greenville; as of today, the Glads hold a four point cushion over the Road Warriors, but have two additional games played. With former Cyclone Casey Pierro-Zabotel in the AHL, Justin Bowers is the Gladiators active leader in scoring - amassing 55 points (16 goals, 39 assists) in 65 games. Defenseman Sacha Guimond is atop the league’s rear guards in scoring with 46 tallies (12 goals, 34 assists) in 54 games. Also similar to Cincinnati, the Gladiators pride themselves on defense, ranking fifth in the ECHL with a 2.66 goals-against average per game. Louis Domingue has started in four of the last five games and has posted an impressive 20-9-1-1 record and a 2.79 goals-against average overall.
He’s a Giver: While he’s been among the team lead for points, rookie David Pacan continues to rack up the assists this season. With a pair of helpers this weekend, he has now notched a point in six straight games and is tied for third among rookies with 51 tallies in 56 games. His assist totals (37) are among the ECHL’s top 20.
North Division Champs: With the Toledo Walleye losing on Sunday the Cyclones secured the 2013 North Division Title, taking home the crown for the third time in club history. It is the earliest that a Cincinnati team has clinched the division since returning to ECHL play in 2006.
