THIS PAST WEEK:

About Game 2 in Toledo: David Pacan had a hat trick and Mike Embach contributed with three assists as the Cyclones cruised past the Walleye by a 5-2 final score in front of 4,191 at Huntington Center. It was the first time since the 2008 playoffs that the Cyclones have won the first two games of a playoff year.

About Game 1 in Toledo: Mike Embach netted the game-winning goal at 4:58 of double overtime to lift the Cyclones to a thrilling 2-1 win over the Walleye in front of 4,042 at Huntington Center. Embach finished with his first two professional playoff goals and first game-winner.

SHOTS FROM THE POINT:

Playoffs in Puckopolis: With back-to-back wins to start the series, the Cyclones return home up two games in the best-of-seven series with the Toledo Walleye. Jarrod Skalde’s team needs just two more wins to advance into the second round. Game 3 will be on Wednesday night, featuring $1 beers while Game 4 will be on Friday and will feature $1 John Morrell Hot Dogs. If necessary, Game 5 would be this Saturday. All games will begin at 7:30pm.

Hats Off For Pacan: On Saturday in Game 2, Cyclones rookie David Pacan accomplished an impressive feat. With his hat trick (and four point night) in Toledo, he became just the second Cincinnati player ever to register a playoff hat trick. Mac Faulkner was the only other Cyclone to notch a three-goal playoff game on April 26, 2009 against Elmira.

The Early Birds: Much like during the regular season in 2012-13, the Cyclones have been deadly over the years in postseason action when scoring the game's first goal. They are an astonishing 30-5 since 2007 in such situations. What's even more impressive is their all-time playoff record when leading after 20 minutes - 22-2.

Closing in on History: Cincinnati captain Mathieu Aubin is participating in his fifth playoff run with the Cyclones. He needs just three goals points to pass Barret Ehgoetz for the club’s all-time playoff goal scoring lead. Aubin has 17 lamp lighters in 62 career postseason games. Ehgoetz had 19 in 75 playoff contests.
