Forward Matt Smyth Returning to Cyclones

CINCINNATI, Ohio – The Cincinnati Cyclones, proud affiliate of the NHL’s Florida Panthers and Nashville Predators, announced today that they have agreed to terms with forward Matt Smyth for the 2013-14 season.

Smyth, an Orlando, Florida native notched 15 points (9 goals, 6 assists) in 24 games with the Cyclones during the 2012-13 campaign. He also appeared in three contests with the Orlando Solar Bears and collected an assist. Smyth played his junior hockey in the OHL, OPHJL, and OJHL – where he amassed 267 points (120 goals, 147 assists) in 261 games over a five-year span.

“Matt shows a lot of offensive upside in this league,” said Cyclones Assistant Coach Matt Macdonald. “He has a hard, accurate shot and makes plays in the tough areas of the ice. We’re excited to have him back in the fold this year.”
