CYCLONES ADD PAIR OF FORWARDS

Team Adds to Forward Group With Mix of Experience and Youth

CINCINNATI, OH- The Cincinnati Cyclones have announced the signing of forwards Peter Sakaris and Joe Wilson for the 2015-2016 season. Sakaris has skated the last three seasons with the Evansville IceMen, while Wilson just wrapped up a successful collegiate career at Colgate University.

Sakaris has spent his entire pro career with the IceMen, totaling 42 points (19g, 23a) in 103 career games. The 23-year-old saw career highs in goals (10), assists (14), and points (24) during the 2013-2014 season, which was his first full season as a pro. Last season, he tallied nine goals and nine assists in 54 contests.

“Peter is a hard-working player that brings speed and grit to our lineup,” said Cyclones Head Coach Matt MacDonald. “We were able to see him play a lot in the past few years, and feel he can add a lot to our lineup this season.”

Prior to signing with Evansville in 2013, the Candiac, PQ, native enjoyed a successful unior hockey career with the Shawinigan Cataractes of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL), accounting for 137 points (61g, 76a) in 159 games. He also spent time in the United States Hockey League (USHL) with the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders, where he amassed 32 points (13g, 19a) over two seasons.

Wilson heads to the Queen City after four years at Colgate University, where he totaled 90 points (37g, 53a) in 152 games. The North Syracuse, NY, native set career highs in goals (11) and points (24) during his senior season, and finished his career tied for fifth in program history in games played with 152. He only missed one games during his entire four-year career, and skated in 134 straight games to end his career.

“Joe is coming off of a great college career, and we are excited to see him carry it into his first year as a professional,” remarked MacDonald. “We feel his skating abilities and the style of game he plays will translate well with us this year.”

He served as Colgate’s alternate captain during his junior and senior seasons, and was the recipient of the team’s Rob Riles Award in each of his final two years. The Rob Riles Award is voted on by the players, and is awarded annually to the teammate who best displays inspiration and leadership throughout the season.
