BUDISH’S PAIR LEADS CYCLONES TO VICTORY

Cincinnati Kicks off Homestand with 15th Home Win of the Season

Cincinnati, OH- The Cincinnati Cyclones (22-19-3-2) earned a 4-1 win over the Kalamazoo Wings on Wednesday night. Forward Zach Budish collected a pair of goals, while defensemen Andrew Blazek and Garrett Noonan each added lone tallies for the Cyclones.

For the third straight game, the Cyclones drew first blood early in the opening period, when forward Seth Ambroz sent a pass up the right win to Budish, and he launched a shot from the half-wall past Wings netminder Joel Martin, putting Cincinnati up, 1-0, 10:19 into the first period.

That 1-0 score held up throughout the remainder of the first, and in the second, the Wings evened things up when a shot from Justin Kovacs found the back of the net, tying the game, 1-1, 3:05 into the middle frame.

The tie was broken shortly thereafter, as roughly six minutes later, a pass from Budish found Blazek at the left wing blue line, and he hammered a shot through traffic and into the net, giving the Cyclones the lead back, 2-1. The goal marked the third of Blazek’s career, and first as a Cincinnati Cyclone.

Cincinnati took their 2-1 lead into the locker room after 40 minutes, and in the third period the Cyclones extended their lead to 3-1 while on a 5-on-3 power play, when Noonan sent a pass to Budish on the back door, and he jammed the puck past Martin, 4:06 into the third.

The Cyclones capped off their big win late in the frame, when forward Tommy Mele sent a pass to Noonan who launched a shot from the neutral zone into the open net, sealing the 4-1 win for the Cyclones. The Cyclones outshot the Wings, 34-23 on the night, with goaltender Andy Iles stopping 22 to collect his fifth win as a Cyclone. Cincinnati continues their three-game homestand on Friday night against the Ft. Wayne Komets. Faceoff is slated for 7:35pm ET.
