AMBROZ RETURNS TO CYCLONES’ LINEUP

Versatile Forward Expected to Have Big Impact on Upcoming Season

 

Cincinnati, OH- Cincinnati Cyclones Head Coach Matt Macdonald has announced that forward Seth Ambroz has signed a Standard Player Contract (SPC) and will return to the ‘Clones for the 2016-2017 season.

“Seth is a big power forward who brings a high level of energy and character to the team,” remarked Macdonald. “He was a player that we used in many different situations last season, and he has a lot of potential entering his second year of pro hockey. Seth will play a physical, honest game and will contribute in many areas. "

Ambroz is coming off of his first full professional season last year, having split time between the Cyclones and the Cleveland Monsters (formerly Lake Erie Monsters) of the American Hockey League (AHL). In 58 games for the Cyclones, the New Prague, MN, native accounted for 10 points (4g, 6a) along with 98 minutes in penalties. In three Cyclones playoff games, Ambroz appeared in three games and racked up 12 minutes in penalties. He suited up in three contests for the Monsters however he did not record a point.

Drafted by the Columbus Blue Jackets in the fifth round of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, Ambroz made his professional debut late in the 2014-15 season for the Springfield Falcons of the AHL, skating in four games.

Prior to Springfield, the New Prague, MN, native enjoyed a successful collegiate career at the University of Minnesota, accounting for 70 points (40g, 30a) in 159 career games. He served as an alternate captain during his senior season in 2014-15, and helped lead the Gophers to NCAA tournament births in each of his four seasons. During his junior season, Ambroz helped the Gophers to a Big Ten title and a trip to the NCAA Championship Game where they ultimately fell to Union College.

He played his junior hockey for the Omaha Lancers of the United States Hockey League (USHL) from 2009-11, appearing in 172 games and totaling 126 points (60g, 66a). He also amassed 295 penalty minutes, including career-high 118 in 2009-10.
