Overview: Cincinnati heads into Kalamazoo riding a four-game winning streak. They are coming off of their highest goal output of the season- a 7-4 win over the Reading Royals on Wednesday, and the Cyclones have outscored the opposition, 17-6 over the last four games

Wednesday Night Recap: The Cincinnati Cyclones (6-5-0-0) earned a 7-4 win over the Reading Royals on Wednesday night. Forward Andrew Yogan notched a pair of goals, while forwards Kenny Ryan, Nick Huard, Tommy Mele, and Shawn O’Donnell, along with defenseman Jaynen Rissling potted lone tallies for the Cyclones.

Sunday Afternoon Recap: The Cincinnati Cyclones (5-5-0-0) collected a 3-2 shootout win over the Quad City Mallards on Sunday afternoon. Defensemen Eric Knodel and Arvin Atwal tallied the goals for the Cyclones, who have won three in a row. The Cyclones were outshot, 27-26 on the night, with goaltender Mark Visentin stopping 25 in regulation and three-of-four in the shootout.

Thursday Night Recap: The Cincinnati Cyclones (4-5-0-0) picked up a 4-1 win over the Quad City Mallards on Thursday night. Forward Andrew Yogan led the way with a pair of goals, while forwards Gabryel Boudreau and Shawn O’Donnell each chipped in one for the Cyclones. Goaltender Mark Visentin was stellar, stopping 30 of the 31 shots he faced in the win.

Previewing Kalamazoo:  The Wings have dropped their last two after winning four-of-five. They are coming off of a 3-0 shutout loss to the Toledo Walleye on Wednesday morning, marking their second straight shutout. Offensively, they are led by a pair of eight-point scorers in forwards Justin Taylor (2g, 6a) and Dajon Mingo (1g, 7a), followed by forwards Tyler Biggs and Tyler Shattock who each have three goals an three assists each. Veteran goaltender Joel Martin has posted a 3-2-0-0 record through six games played with a 2.31 goals-against average and a .931 save percentage.

Inside the Series: This is the first of five meetings this season between Cincinnati and Kalamazoo, and the first of three played away from U.S. Bank Arena. Cincinnati went 2-1-1-0 against Kalamazoo last season, and holds a 36-30-5-3 edge in the series since 2009.

Next Game Preview: The Cyclones return home on Saturday night to take on the Toledo Walleye. Toledo took the first meeting of the season, 5-0, back on October 18.

 

TOP STORYLINES 

Offensive Explosion: Twelve players recorded points in Wednesday’s 7-4 win over the Reading Royals, including multi-point efforts from Andrew Yogan (2g, 1a), Peter LeBlanc (3a), and Jonathan Diaby (2a).

Diaby Recalled: After his two assist performance in Wednesday’s 7-4 win over Reading, defenseman Jonathan Diaby was recalled by the Milwaukee Admirals, American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate of the Cyclones. The 6’5” rearguard has accounted for three assists in four games this season with Cincinnati.

Defensively Offensive: The Cyclones’ defensive corps have combined for three goals and three assists over the last two games, including goals from Arvin Atwal, Eric Knodel, and Jaynen Rissling. Overall, the Cyclones defense has accounted for five goals and 10 assists through the first 11 games of the season, with Knodel leading the way with two goals and three assists.

Man on a Mission:  Forward Andrew Yogan took over the team points lead with his second three-point effort in three games (2g, 1a)n Wednesday night’s 7-4 win over Reading. Yogan has 11 points on the season (6g, 5a,) with nine points (6g, 3a) coming in his last six games.

Streaky Behavior: Forward Shawn O’Donnell is currently riding a four-game point streak, accounting for a pair of goals and three assists in that time. He recorded his third two-point outing of the season in last Thursday’s 4-1 win over the Quad City Mallards, and has points in seven of his 10 games played this season.

Helping Hand: Forward Peter LeBlanc dished out three assists in Wednesday’s 7-4 win over the Reading Royals to extend his team-leading assist total to 10. He is on a three-game point streak, accounting for five assists in that time.

Get Up and Stay Up: All six of Cincinnati’s wins this season have come when the Cyclones score the first goal of the game, and they are a perfect 5-0-0-0 when leading after two periods. Holding leads was a strong point of the Cyclones last season, having posted a 24-7-1-0 record when leading after one period, and a 30-1-0-1 mark when leading after two periods.

Heating Up: After only recording a pair of assists in Cincinnati’s first five games, forward Nick Huard has a pair of goals and four assists in his last five games played. Huard is the Cyclones’ top returner this season after a stellar rookie season where he ranked sixth in League rookie scoring with 52 points (21g, 31a), and first in power play goals with 15.

Cyclones on the Square: The Cyclones are proud to partner with 3CDC to present Cyclones on the Square from 5pm-8pm during select Tuesdays in the month of November. Meet Cyclones mascots, players, and coaches on one of Cincinnati’s most unique ice surfaces- Fountain Square. The initial date of November 1 will have a spotlight on the Cyclones mascots! Join Puckchop and Twister on the ice for an up-close encounter with Cincinnati’s best mascots. November 8 and 15 will see select Cyclones players and coaches at the Rink. Plus, chosen fans will be able to try Cyclones intermission games such as sumo suits and hamster balls. In addition, Cyclones Season Ticket holders will receive free skate rental by showing their Season Ticket Holder ID.

All Aboard: The Cincinnati Cyclones have announced this year’s PBR Party Express Bus Trip. The annual fan excursion will take place from Thursday, January 12 through Sunday, January 15 and will feature a Nashville Predators game and a Cincinnati Cyclones game. The first stop on the trip will be in Nashville, TN, to watch Cincinnati’s National Hockey League (NHL) affiliate Nashville Predators take on the Boston Bruins on Thursday night. From there, the PBR Party Express will head to Atlanta, GA, for a Saturday evening affair between the Cyclones and Atlanta Gladiators.
