Overview: The Cyclones are riding a two-game winning streak heading into Sundays meeting with the Quad City Mallards. Cincinnati is coming off of a 4-1 win over the Mallards on Thursday night at home, and are just four points back of the top spot in the ECHL’s South Division.
Thursday Night Recap: The Cincinnati Cyclones (4-5-0-0) picked up a 4-1 win over the Quad City Mallards on Thursday night. Forward Andrew Yogan led the way with a pair of goals, while forwards Gabryel Boudreau and Shawn O’Donnell each chipped in one for the Cyclones. Goaltender Mark Visentin was stellar, stopping 30 of the 31 shots he faced in the win.
Wednesday Night Recap: The Cincinnati Cyclones (3-5-0-0) collected a 4-3 win over the Ft. Wayne Komets on Wednesday night. Forwards Dominic Zombo, Nick Huard, and Andrew Yogan, along with defenseman Eric Knodel tallied the goals for the Cyclones, who pick up their second home win of the season. Netminder Mark Visentin turned aside 19 to collect the win.
Sunday Afternoon Recap: The Cincinnati Cyclones (2-5-0-0) fell to the Manchester Monarchs, 4-2, in the series finale of a three-game weekend. Forwards Gabryel Boudreau and Rob De Fulviis netted their first career goals for the Cyclones, while goaltender Michael Houser stopped 25-of-29 shots in the loss.
Previewing Quad City: The Mallards have won four of their last five, after starting the season 0-2-0-0. The are coming off of a 4-1 win over the Indy Fuel on Saturday night, and are outscoring their opponents 16-7 in their five wins. Forwards Justin Kovacs, Sam Warning, and Alex Petan have accounted for 27 of the team’s 54 points this season (11g, 16a), with Kovacs leading the way with three goals and eight assists.
Inside the Series: This is the second of nine meetings between the Cyclones and Mallards. Cincinnati took the season series last year, 6-4-0-1, including a 4-3 win on the final day of the regular season to clinch the seventh seed in the Kelly Cup Playoffs. Cincinnati took the first meeting this season, and only three of the nine meetings will take place in the Quad Cities.
Next Game Preview: The Cyclones return home for a meeting with the Reading Royals on Wednesday night. This will be the first of three meetings this season between these two teams, and the first matchup since February 11, 2015 when Reading beat the Cyclones, 4-1, at U.S. Bank Arena.
Piling Up the Points: Forward Andrew Yogan is riding a four-game point streak, accounting for four goals and two assists in that time. He recorded his second multi-point effort of the season in Thursday’s 4-1 win over the Mallards (2g, 1a), and has three of his four goals in the last two games.
Scoring Touch: Forward Dominic Zombo continues to find his way onto the score sheet, accounting for a goal and two assists in his last four games. Henetted his fourth goal of the season in Wednesday’s 4-3 win over the Ft. Wayne Komets, and also lit the lamp in last Friday night’s 7-3 loss to the Manchester Monarchs. Zombo has points in six of his nine games played this season.
Deuces Wild: Forward Shawn O’Donnell recorded his third two-point outing of the season in Thursday’s 4-1 win over the Quad City Mallards, accounting for a goal and an assist. He potted a pair of goals in last Saturday’s 4-2 win over the Manchester Monarchs as well, and is currently tied for the team lead with four goals and four assists, with seven points (4g, 3a) coming in his last five games.
Heating Up: After only recording a pair of assists in Cincinnati’s first five games, forward Nick Huard has a goal and three assists in his last three games played, including a goal and two assists in Wednesday’s 4-3 win over Ft. Wayne. Huard is the Cyclones’ top returner this season after a stellar rookie season where he ranked sixth in League rookie scoring with 52 points (21g, 31a), and first in power play goals with 15.
Diaby Returns: The Milwaukee Admirals, American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate of the Cincinnati Cyclones have reassigned defenseman Jonathan Diaby to the Cyclones. He has skated in one game this season with the Admirals. Diaby appeared in 43 games with the Cyclones a year ago, accounting for three goals and three assists along with 51 minutes in penalties. Diaby was a crucial piece in Cincinnati’s first-round playoff series against the Ft. Wayne Komets as well, scoring the game winner in double overtime in Game 4. The Blainville, QC, native also skated in five games with the Admirals, however did not record a point. Diaby is a 2013, third-round draft pick of the Nashville Predators, and has seven points (3g, 7a) to go along with 53 penalty minutes in 45 career games with Cincinnati.
Helping Hand: Forward Peter LeBlanc dished out his team-leading sixth assist in Thursday’s 4-1 win over Quad City. He had a pair of assists in last Saturday’s 4-2 win over Manchester, and has recorded five of his six assists in the last five games.

All Aboard: The Cincinnati Cyclones have announced this year’s PBR Party Express Bus Trip. The annual fan excursion will take place from Thursday, January 12 through Sunday, January 15 and will feature a Nashville Predators game and a Cincinnati Cyclones game. The first stop on the trip will be in Nashville, TN, to watch Cincinnati’s National Hockey League (NHL) affiliate Nashville Predators take on the Boston Bruins on Thursday night. From there, the PBR Party Express will head to Atlanta, GA, for a Saturday evening affair between the Cyclones and Atlanta Gladiators. Pricing for this once in a lifetime event includes passage on the PBR Party Express, tickets to both games, and single or double occupancy hotel accommodations. Full Season Ticket Holders will have the first chance to purchase this package from Tuesday, November 1 through Tuesday, November 8.
