Cincinnati Rallies from Early Deficit; Cannot Pull Ahead Late

Greenville, SC-  The Cincinnati Cyclones (17-15-4-0) dropped a 3-2 decision to the Greenville Swamp Rabbits on Sunday afternoon. Forwards Colin Mulvey and Nick Huard tallied the goals for the Cyclones, who fall to a divisional opponent for the second straight game.

After the Swamp Rabbits took a 1-0 lead on a late first-period power play goal from defenseman Desmond Bergin, Greenville pushed their lead to 2-0 8:36 into the second when forward Trevor Gerling found the back of the net.

Cincinnati was not deterred and pulled to within a goal 1:12 later, when Mulvey came streaking down the left side and snapped a wrister that beat Swamp Rabbits netminder MacKenzie Skapski, cutting the Cyclones deficit to 2-1.

The offense continued to roll for the Cyclones, and 3:04 later they managed to pull even when Huard brought the puck over the right wing blueline and hammered a shot past Skapski to tie the game, 2-2, after 40 minutes.

Cincinnati received some quality offensive scoring chances in the third, however an early-period goal from Greenville’s Tommy Thompson put the Swamp Rabbits up for good, as they held on for the 3-2 win.

The Cyclones outshot Greenville, 29-22 on the afternoon, with goaltender Mark Visentin stopping 19 in a losing effort. Cincinnati next takes the ice on Friday night in Ft. Wayne against the Komets, in the first of three games in three days for the Cyclones. Face-off is slated for 8:00pm ET.
