CYCLONES FALL IN SERIES OPENER WITH WICHITA

Cincinnati’s Three-Game Winning Streak Comes to an End

Cincinnati, OH- The Cincinnati Cyclones (26-24-4-0) fell to the Wichita Thunder, 5-1, on Wednesday night. Forward Shane Walsh scored the lone goal for the Cyclones as the Thunder snap their 13-game losing streak (0-11-2-0)

After the Thunder took a 1-0 lead just 36 seconds into the first on a goal from forward Ian Lowe, the Cyclones tied the game late in the frame when Walsh brought the puck over the left-wing blue line and snapped a shot in past Wichita goaltender Scott Greenham to tie the game, 1-1, after 20 minutes.

The Thunder found some more early-period magic in the second as forward Matt DeBlouw lit the lamp 12 seconds in to take a 2-1 lead. That lead became 3-1 at the 9:00 mark of the frame when forward Blake Tatchell found the back of the net.

Wichita took their 3-1 lead into the third, and in the final frame they put it away with the second of the game from Tatchell at 7:33, and an empty netter from forward Ryan Tesink at 18:51 to seal the 5-1 win.

The Cyclones were outshot, 23-20 on the night, with goaltender Michael Houser stopping 18 in the loss. The Cyclones and Thunder wrap up the season series on Friday night. Face-off is slated for 7:35pm ET.
