CYCLONES OUTLAST FUEL IN FRONT OF PACKED HOUSE

Cincinnati Wraps up Homestand with Big Win

Cincinnati, OH- The Cincinnati Cyclones (28-24-4-0) collected a 3-2 win over the Indy Fuel on Saturday night, in front of 9,098 at U.S. Bank Arena. Forwards Tommy Mele and Justin MacDonald, along with defenseman Frank Misuraca netted the goals for the Cyclones.

The Cyclones wasted little time finding the back of the net, as just 6:21 into the opening frame forward Nick Huard intercepted a pass in the Fuel zone and sent a pass to Mele who wristed it past Indy netminder Eric Levine to give the Cyclones a 1-0 lead.

That 1-0 lead held up throughout the remainder of the first, and in the second. Cincinnati pushed their lead to a pair when forward Christiaan Minella won a face-off back to MacDonald who snapped a shot from the right circle by Levine to extend Cincinnati’s lead to 2-0.

The Fuel were not deterred and managed to cut the Cyclones’ lead in half when forward Tyler Barnes found the back of the net to put Indy to within a goal at 2-1, 12:40 into the middle frame.

The Cyclones took their 2-1 lead into the locker room after the second period, and in the third went back up by a pair when forward Shawn O’Donnell took a shot that hit some traffic in front, but Misuraca was following up the play and he blasted a shot in from the right circle to put the Cyclones up, 3-1.

The Fuel continued to battle and pulled back to within a goal, 3-2, when defenseman Travis Armstrong scored at the 12:02 mark of the third period.

Indy continued to apply the pressure throughout the remainder of the frame, however Cyclones goaltender Michael Houser remained strong to preserve the 3-2 win.

Cincinnati outshot the Fuel 36-23 on the night, with Houser stopping 21 to collect the win. Cincinnati heads back on the road on Sunday afternoon to take on the Kalamazoo Wings. Face-off is scheduled for 3:00pm.
