HOUSER RECALLED TO CLEVELAND

Cincinnati Also Releases Vance in Separate Move

 

Cincinnati, OH- The Cleveland Monsters American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate of the Columbus Blue Jackets have recalled Cyclones goaltender Michael Houser.

A native of Youngstown, OH, Houser has appeared in 34 games for the Cyclones this season, posting a 19-12-1-0 record, along with a 2.65 goals-against average and a .915 save percentage. He also has pitched a team-high two shutouts. Houser is 10-3-0-0 in his last 14 games played with Cincinnati, having allowed three or fewer goals in none of those contests, and stopping 27 or more shots in 10.

Houser is no stranger to Cincinnati, as he spent 41 games with the Cyclones during the 2012-13 and 2013-14 seasons. During that time, he posted a record of 22-16-3 along with a 2.39 GAA and a .920 SV%. He appeared in 17 games for Cincinnati during the 2013 Kelly Cup Playoffs as well, turning out a 9-5-3 record with a 2.24 GAA and .915 SV%.

He split last season between the Manchester Monarchs and the Ontario Reign of the AHL where he posted a combined record of 20-13-4 along with a 2.63 GAA and a .907 SV%. Houser has spent the majority of his four-year career in the AHL, having seen time with the San Antonio Rampage and Reign. He has recorded 32 wins in 71 AHL games played, including a career-high 19 with the Rampage in 2014-15.

Prior to turning pro in 2012, Houser spent three seasons with the London Knights of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL). In 141 games played from 2009-12, the 6’2”, 192-pounder recorded 93 wins to go along with a 2.96 GAA and a .909 SV%.

In a separate transaction, the Cyclones have released defenseman Troy Vance from his Standard Player Contract. Vance departs the Queen City having accounted for a goal and three assists along with a -12 on-ice rating in 38 games played.
