Cincinnati struck first while on the power play at the 1:25 mark of the opening period, when defenseman Eric Knodel sent a pass to Muzito-Bagenda and he rifled a shot in past Mavericks netminder Mason McDonald to give the Cyclones a 1-0 lead.

Just prior to the midway point of the frame Cincinnati added another while on the power play, when forward Justin Danforth sent a pass to Vaive in left circle and he wristed in his 16th of the season to put the ‘Clones ahead, 3-0.

Kansas City responded moments later with a power play tally of their own when forward Shawn Pauly cut the Mavericks deficit to 3-1 after two periods.

Cincinnati put the final nail in the coffin 2:11 into the third when Muzito-Bagenda took a shot that was turned aside by McDonald, but Day Chief was right in front to bury the rebound to complete Cincinnati’s 4-1 win.

Cincinnati outshot the Mavericks, 38-28, on the evening, with goaltender Jason Kasdorf stopping 27 in the win. The Cyclones return home on Thursday night to take on Kansas City in the finale of the four-game season series. Face-off is slated for 7:35pm ET.
