KARABACEK, KILE RECALLED

Offensive Duo Earn First Call-ups of the Season

 

Cincinnati, OH- The Cincinnati Cyclones, proud ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League’s (NHL) Buffalo Sabres and American Hockey League’s (AHL) Rochester Americans, have announced that forwards Alex Kile and Vaclav Karabacek have been recalled by the Americans.

Karabacek has appeared in 16 games with the Cyclones this season, accounting for three assists. He missed time from November to February with an injury, however has appeared in nine games and dished out a pair of assists since returning. 

Drafted in the second round in 2014 by the Sabres, Karabacek split last season between the Americans and the now-defunct Elmira Jackals of the ECHL. In 32 games between the two clubs, Karabacek accounted for eight goals and 11 assists.  

Prior to turning pro, the Praha, CZE, native enjoyed a successful three-year career in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL), where he accounted for 117 points (56g, 61a) in 171 games. Karabacek has also seen time internationally, skating with the Czech Republic from 2012-2014. 

Kile has skated in 32 games with the Cyclones this season, totaling 11 goals and nine assists in that time including five multi-point efforts.

A native of Troy, MI, Kile turned pro late during the 2016-17 season, following the completion of his collegiate career at the University of Michigan, appearing in 11 games with the Americans where he recorded a pair of goals and an assist in that time.

Prior to turning pro, Kile enjoyed a successful four-year career at Michigan, where he accounted for 40 goals and 40 assists in 130 games played. He served as team captain during his senior season of 2016-17, and helped lead the Wolverines to a Big Ten championship in 2015-16. He played junior hockey with the Green Bay Gamblers of the United States Hockey League (USHL), skating in 114 games and totaling 94 points (47g, 47a) in that time, and helped the Gamblers to a Clark Cup Championship in 2012.
