CYCLONES EDGED AT FINISH LINE BY FUEL

Cincinnati Suffers Just Third Regulation Loss of the Season

Indianapolis, IN- The Cincinnati Cyclones (7-3-2-0) dropped a tight 4-3 affair to the Indy Fuel on the road Saturday night. Forwards Myles PowellPascal Aquin, and Brady Vail tallied the goals for the Cyclones, who dropped just their third game in regulation this season.

After the Fuel took a 1-0 lead 9:45 into the first on a power play tally from forward Jordy Stallard, Powell pulled the Cyclones even less than a minute later when he took a pass from forward Alex Wideman and beat Fuel goaltender Kevin Lankinen to tie the game, 1-1.

The 1-1 score held up throughout the remainder of the first, and in the second Indy regained the lead when forward Ryan Rupert lit the lamp at the 15:02 mark of the second to put the Fuel ahead, 2-1.

The momentum was short-lived, as roughly two minutes later while on a power play, defenseman Devante Stephens took a shot that was blocked by traffic, and the puck ricocheted to Aquin who slammed it in from the high slot to tie the game, 2-2, after two periods.

Indy took a 3-2 lead early in the third on a goal from forward Kevin Dufour, however 5:14 into the frame, Vail snapped in a shot from the left circle to pull Cincinnati back level with the Fuel, 3-3.

Indy responded 1:12 later when defenseman Josh McArdle beat Cyclones goaltender Michael Houser from the right circle to give the Fuel their one-goal lead back, 4-3. The Cyclones continued to pressure and got a myriad of scoring chances throughout the remainder of the period, however they were unable to net the equalizer, and the Fuel held on for the 4-3 win.

Cincinnati outshot the Fuel, 30-27, with Houser stopping 23 in defeat. Cincinnati returns home on Tuesday morning to take on the Greenville Swamp Rabbits, in their annual Field Trip Game. Face-off is scheduled for 10:35am ET.
