CYCLONES GET POWER PLAY ON TRACK IN ROAD WIN

Cincinnati Snaps Two-Game Skid in Kalamazoo

Kalamazoo, MI- TheCincinnati Cyclones (6-4-1-0) took down the Kalamazoo Wings, 3-2, on Sunday afternoon. The Cyclones received goals from forwards Ben JohnsonDarik Angeli, and John Edwardh, and brought their two-game losing streak to an end.

Cincinnati drew first blood 9:45 into the first when Johnson was driving the net and redirected in a point shot from the right side to give the Cyclones an early 1-0 advantage.

The Cyclones’ power play added a contribution roughly five minutes later when Angeli took the puck following a scramble in front of the net and lifted a backhander in past Kalamazoo goaltender Jake Hildebrand to extend Cincinnati’s lead to 2-0.

Cincinnati took their 2-0 lead into the locker room after the first, and in the second Kalamazoo turned up the pressure offensively and managed to get a pair of goal from forwards Dylan Sadowy and Boston Leier to tie the game, 2-2, 13:02 into the middle frame.

The Cyclones were not deterred, and with 4:10 left while on the power play, Edwardh took a rebound following a shot from forward Jesse Schultz and scored to give Cincinnati the edge back, 3-2, after two periods.

In the third, Cincinnati continued the offensive pressure, outshooting the Wings 13-6 in the period. Kalamazoo had a few quality chances to tie the game as the frame winded down, however Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen was perfect and preserved the 3-2 win for the Cyclones. Cincinnati outshot the Wings, 29-24 on the afternoon, with Luukkonen stopping 22 for his first Cyclones win. Cincinnati returns home on Tuesday morning to take on the Allen Americans, in their annual Field Trip Day game. Puck drop is scheduled for 10:35am ET.
