Cyclones defenseman Jalen Smereck has been called-up to the San Jose Barracuda of the American Hockey League. In other news, goaltender Beck Warm has been reassigned to Cincinnati from Rochester; the Cyclones' AHL affiliate.
Smereck, 25, is in his fifth year as a pro and leads all Cyclones blue liners with two goals and 12 points through as many games. The Detroit, Michigan native ranks fourth in ECHL scoring by defensemen this season. Smereck last played in the AHL during the 2020-21 season as a member of the Tucson Roadrunners. He spent parts of five seasons with Tucson, (the only AHL team he has played for to this point) scoring four goals and 10 assists through 67 games.
Warm returns to the Cyclones after his second stint with Rochester in the month of November. The third-year net minder owns a 5-1-1 record with the 'Clones, posting a 2.11 goals against average to go along with a .931 save percentage. He has made two appearances in goal for the Americans this season.
