HIRANO RECALLED TO AHL-CANUCKS

Cyclones forward Yushiroh Hirano has been was recalled by the AHL's Abbotsford Canucks Thursday morning. 

Hirano, 27, was reassigned to Cincinnati late last month following 13 games with the Canucks this season. The Tomokomai, Japan native made his season debut for the 'Clones on January 25, marking his first ECHL game in nearly 14 months. Hirano went on to play 12 games with Cincinnati, earning points in 10 of 12 outings, scoring four goals while adding 10 assists.

"Our job at this level is to help develop players and get them ready for what's waiting for them at the next level," said Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Jason Payne. "We knew Yushiroh was coming our way so he could consistently get in the lineup and play big minutes in games. I'm thrilled with his progress and ability to quickly adapt to being a force in this league. We're excited to see him get the call-up again, and I wish Yushiroh the best of luck going back to the AHL."

In July, Hirano signed a two-way AHL contract with Abbotsford after appearing in 30 games with the Canucks during the 2021-22 season. Over the last two seasons, the fourth-year pro has skated in 43 games with Abbotsford, totaling seven goals and nine assists for 16 points. Hirano has played for both Cincinnati and Wheeling during his ECHL tenure, scoring 52 goals and piling up 135 points across 156 games.
