CINCINNATI, OH – The Cyclones received defenseman Joe Masonius from the Growlers today in exchange for cash considerations. With Newfoundland this season, Masonius has played in 17 games, recording one goal and three assists.
The 26-year-old also suited up for 18 games in Romania this year with SC Csíkszereda. Last season, Masonius played the bulk of his time with Fort Wayne for 61 games (4g, 9a).
The Spring Lake, New Jersey native has seen time with the South Carolina Stingrays, Manchester Monarchs, Norfolk Admirals, Greenville Swamp Rabbits, Adirondack Thunder and Kalamazoo Wings. He has three games of AHL experience with the Utica Comets.
At 6-0, 190 lbs., Masonius was taken 181st overall in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft by the Pittsburgh Penguins. Prior to turning pro, the defensemen played three seasons with the UConn Huskies and spent time with U.S. National Development Team.
