CINCINNATI, OH – The Cyclones, proud ECHL affiliate of the New York Rangers, traded for goaltender Michael McNiven today from the Savannah Ghost Pirates.
McNiven has suited up for seven games with the Ghost Pirates this year and recorded a 2.93 goals against average with an .886 save percentage. The 26-year-old also started in six contests for the Wheeling Nailers this season, winning two of those games.
The Winnipeg, Manitoba native has seen time as well in the ECHL with the Brampton Beast, Adirondack Thunder, Jacksonville Icemen, Norfolk Admirals and Greenville Swamp Rabbits.
McNiven has skated in 83 AHL games while playing for the Laval Rocket and Belleville Senators.
At 6’1, 198 lbs., Michael has been called up to the Montreal Canadiens in the NHL twice during his pro career. He received NHL game action back in January of 2022 in a Canadiens’ game against the Minnesota Wild.
