CYCLONES CAN’T KEEP UP WITH HEARTLANDERS

CINCINNATI, OH – The Cyclones fell short against the Heartlanders 5-3 Friday night inside the Heritage Bank Center. Cincinnati is now 4-3-1-0 against Iowa in the regular season series.

* Zack Andrusiak extended his home game point streak to nine games when he opened the scoring with a right circle wrist shot 29 seconds in. Iowa responded in the 1st period when Louis Boudon scored his first of three goals on the night.

* In the 2nd period, Boudon gave Iowa its first lead with a power play goal. Cincinnati would then kill off a five-minute major penalty taken by Cole Fraser, but couldn’t keep Boudon at bay on the next man-advantage. Iowa got the score to 4-1 with a Yuki Miura rebound goal which brought a goaltending change for Cincy. Rylan Parenteau replaced Olof Lindbom who left with 19 saves on 23 shots. The Cyclones started a comeback with two goals in 18 seconds. Ben Hawerchuk capped off a two-on-one rush, then Brandon Puricelli snapped home a shot from the slot to make it 4-3.

* Iowa tacked on a an insurance marker midway through the 3rd period with a goal from defensemen Anthony Firriolo. Heartlanders goalie Drew DeRidder made 18 saves in the victory.

Up next, Cincinnati continues its three-game homestand at the Heritage Bank Center. The Cyclones host the Heartlanders Saturday February 24th with a 7:30pm ET puck drop.
