CINCINNATI, OH – The Cyclones fell to the Walleye 6-4 inside the Heritage Bank Center on Friday night. Cincinnati drops to 4-5-2-0 against the Central Division’s top team this season.
* With just over four minutes left in the first period, Sam Craggs fired in his 24th of the season off a Conlan Keenan feed. Cincinnati responded 1:14 later thanks to Ben Hawerchuk. The forward in his Cyclones debut wristed one over the shoulder of John Lethemon to tie the game at 1-1.
* Toledo opened things up in the middle frame against the Cyclones and Rylan Parenteau. Brandon Hawkins recorded a hat trick just in the 2nd period alone, including two man-advantage markers. Cincinnati got one goal back from Jalen Smereck, who snapped in a point shot. Trenton Bliss added a marker for Toledo towards the end of the period to make it 5-2.
* In the 3rd period, Cincinnati got things back to a two-goal game once again when Colton Kalezic sniped in his 5th of the year. After Riley McCourt grabbed his 4th-point of the game, Nick Isaacson wrapped in a power play goal for the 6-4 final.
Up next, Cincinnati hits the road for a two-game set in Fort Wayne over the weekend. The Cyclones and Komets drop the puck Saturday night at 7:30pm ET inside the Memorial Coliseum.
