CYCLONES TOPPLED BY NAILERS

CINCINNATI, OH – The Cyclones fell to the Nailers 6-3 Wednesday night inside the Heritage Bank Center. Cincinnati drops to 1-4-0-0 against Wheeling this season and has its losing streak extend to three games.

* The ‘Clones broke the ice just under five minutes into the game thanks to Sahil Panwar. Cole Fraser sprung the rookie on a partial break, then Panwar sniped a shot past Wheeling goaltender Taylor Gauthier. Cincinnati got the lead up to 2-0 when Zack Andrusiak wired in his 20th of the season on the powerplay. Before the close of the 1st period, Wheeling defensemen Isaac Belliveau slammed in a rebound.

* In the second period, the Nailers scored three straight goals to jump in front 4-2. Justin Lee beat Olof Lindbom from a sharp angle below the goal line to tie the game. Belliveau scored his second of the game on a backdoor feed and pushed the Nailers in front for the first time. Lukas Svejkovsky collected his 15th goal of the season just moments later.

* Just 37 seconds into the 3rd period, the captain Justin Vaive snatched another Cincy powerplay goal to cut the deficit to 4-3. Wheeling rattled off two more response goals with a Matt Koopman deflection and Cedric Desruisseaux wrister.

Up next, Cincinnati begins a home-and-home series with the Fort Wayne. The Cyclones visit the Komets Friday February 2nd for the first time this season.
