CINCINNATI, OH – The Cyclones fell to the Walleye 5-2 Wednesday evening inside the Heritage Bank Center. Cincinnati drops to 4-7-2-0 in the regular season series against its Ohio rival.
* In the 1st period, Toledo’s top power play unit went to work and needed only 20 seconds to cash in. Mitch Lewandowski converted on a slap pass courtesy of Brandon Hawkins at the 5:33 mark of the frame.
* The Walleye expanded on the lead in the 2nd period, when Conlan Keenan found a loose puck and roofed it over Pavel Cajan. Alexandre Doucet snapped in a shot under the right pad to make it 3-0 just six minutes into the frame. Nick Isaacson scored his fourth goal in his last five games when he burst into the offensive zone and deked to his forehand. Toledo rattled off two straight markers to go up 5-1. Orrin Centazzo converted on a penalty shot and Brandon Hawkins rocketed in his 37th of the year.
* Talyn Boyko replaced Cajan to start the final period and stopped all seven shots he faced. With less than one minute to go in regulation, rookie Remy Parker batted in his third goal in just his fifth professional game and pushed the score to 5-2.
Up next, Cincinnati hits the road to Indy and takes on the Fuel. The puck drops Friday March 22nd at 7:00pm ET. The Cyclones are back home inside the Heritage Bank Center to host the Wings on Saturday night.
