CYCLONES FALL TO HEARTLANDERS IN OVERTIME

Cincinnati, Ohio - The Cincinnati Cyclones fell to the Iowa Heartlanders by a final score of 3-2 in overtime on Wednesday night at Heritage Bank Center. Highlighted by an overtime winner from Jules Boscq, Cincinnati recorded their fourth overtime loss of the season.

  • Iowa would score the opening goal nearly four minutes into the game. It was a tally from Jonny Sorenson that opened the scoring for the Heartlanders. His fourth goal of the season made it 1-0.
  • Despite outshooting Iowa 10-6 in the first period, the Heartlanders kept the lead heading into the intermission. In the second period, it was captain Yuki Miura that doubled the Iowa lead with his fourth of the season at the 9:06 mark of the middle frame.
  • Cincinnati would respond in a big way in the third. After a strong push from the Cyclones, Justin Vaive fed Dante Sheriff behind the goal line. Sheriff would find a cutting Remy Parker who scored his second goal of the season to cut the deficit in half.
  • Sheriff now leads the Cyclones in assists, becoming the first player to eclipse 10+ assists this season for Cincinnati.
  • Ty Voit would score his finest goal of the season. On an interception from Jacob Bengsston and a feed from Ryan McCleary, Voit made an excellent move to beat Will Rousseau five-hole and level the score at 2-2.
  • Voit now has goals in back-to-back games and is tied with Lincoln Griffin and Tristan Ashbrook for the second-most goals on the team (5).
  • Despite a strong push to end regulation from the Cyclones, the game would require overtime.
  • Iowa would defeat Cincinnati with a five-hole goal in the extra period from Boscq to hand the Heartlanders their 14th win of the season.
  • With the overtime loss, Cincinnati’s record falls to 4-15-4-0.

The Cyclones will head to Kalamazoo to take on the K-Wings on Friday night in another back-to-back series. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET and will be streamed on FloHockey and the Cyclones Radio Network.
